DJ Toxxyk Arrested After Fatal Accident That Claimed Police Officer’s Life

Rwandan police have arrested DJ Toxxyk following a tragic road accident in which a police officer on duty was fatally struck.
The accident occurred in the early hours of December 20, 2025. After the collision, DJ Toxxyk reportedly fled the scene but was later apprehended in Karongi District.

Confirming the arrest, the Spokesperson of the Rwanda National Police, ACP Boniface Rutikanga, told local media that the suspect was taken into custody on Saturday afternoon after initially going into hiding.

“He is currently being held at Remera Police Station. He was arrested in the afternoon because he had first disappeared. He was found in Karongi, although we are still establishing his exact destination,” ACP Rutikanga said.

Police investigations have so far revealed that DJ Toxxyk had consumed alcohol prior to the accident, a factor believed to have contributed to the incident.

Witnesses told investigators that the suspect was driving from the Kiyovu area during the early morning hours and was descending the ‘Payage’ road at a high speed. The police officer who was struck was reportedly standing across the road while on duty.

Due to excessive speed, the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle, crossed into another lane, and mounted the roadside area where the officer was positioned, hitting him directly.

The vehicle is said to have dragged the officer for approximately 30 meters, resulting in fatal injuries.

Sources further suggest that the driver may have failed to properly control the car while attempting to avoid road construction barriers installed along the same road, which ultimately led to the deadly collision.

Authorities have launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident, as the suspect remains in police custody awaiting further legal procedures.

The Rwanda National Police once again reminded road users to strictly observe traffic laws, particularly regarding speed limits and driving under the influence, emphasizing that such violations continue to claim lives unnecessarily.
