Al-Merrikh Move Up to Second Place After Dramatic Win Over Musanze FC

Al-Merrikh SC climbed to second place on the Rwanda Premier League table after securing a 3-2 comeback victory against Musanze FC on Wednesday, in a matchday 12 fixture.

The Sudanese side endured a difficult first half, going into the break 2-0 down after Musanze FC dominated the opening stages of the game. However, the match took a decisive turn early in the second half.

On the 61st minute, Musanze FC defender Marcel Dikoume was shown a red card, leaving his team with ten players. Just one minute later, Al-Merrikh began their comeback.

Starting from the 62nd minute, Al-Merrikh scored three goals in the second half, completely overturning the scoreline and sealing an important away victory.

The result highlights Al-Merrikh’s strong mentality and tactical adjustments under head coach Darko Nović, as the team capitalized on their numerical advantage to control the remainder of the match.

So far this season, Al-Merrikh have played 10 league matches, while league leaders Police FC, who have played 13 games, remain five points ahead.

With this victory, Al-Merrikh continue to position themselves as serious title contenders as the Rwanda Premier League season progresses.
