Popular Rwandan figure Sengabo Jean Bosco, widely known as Fatakumavuta, has stated that he is nearing the end of his prison sentence and is ready to return to society as a transformed individual.
Speaking on Monday, December 22, 2025, while leading end-of-year celebration activities at Nyarugenge Prison, Fatakumavuta said he is fully committed to completing his sentence and believes the correctional process has changed him for the better.
“I will complete my sentence in April 2026. I was disciplined, and I have been rehabilitated. I will return home a different person from the one people knew,” he told Imvaho Nshya.
He added that his return to society will surprise many, including those who previously criticized him.
“When I come back, those who did not appreciate me will be surprised, and my fans will be satisfied and happy to see the change,” he said.
Fatakumavuta was convicted on charges including criminal intimidation through defamation, spreading false information, and drug use. As a result, the court sentenced him to two years and six months in prison, along with a fine of RWF 1,300,000.
He was arrested on October 18, 2024, and has since been serving his sentence at Nyarugenge Prison. At the time of his statement, he had approximately five months remaining before completing his punishment.
Authorities continue to emphasize that correctional facilities are designed not only to punish offenders but also to rehabilitate and prepare inmates for reintegration into society, a process Fatakumavuta says he has fully embraced.
