Cameroonian striker Jules Armand Kooh Bioumla, who was expected to join Rayon Sports, saw his transfer collapse at the very last minute due to a failure to reach an agreement between the three parties involved in the deal.
The 26-year-old forward was scheduled to arrive in Kigali on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at around 9:00 PM. Some individuals had already gone to Kigali International Airport in Kanombe to welcome him, although no officials from Rayon Sports were present.
One of the people at the airport told IGIHE that they waited for about an hour and a half without receiving any information, until they eventually gave up. Even when they tried to inquire, no one informed them that there had been a change in plans.
On the other hand, a source within Rayon Sports confirmed to IGIHE that the player never boarded a flight to Kigali because the agreement that had been reached during negotiations collapsed at the last minute.
“He was supposed to arrive in Kigali at 9:00 PM. We had been in talks with him and with the club from Douala that signed him after he left Club Africain in Morocco. We had agreed on a fee of $15,000, but before he could come, the club doubled the amount and demanded $30,000 (about 43.6 million Rwandan Francs), otherwise the deal would not go through,” the source explained.
The same source did not confirm whether Rayon Sports has completely withdrawn from the deal or if negotiations could still continue.
Information from within Rayon Sports indicated that the club had been monitoring the player for some time and that, upon arrival in Kigali, he was expected to immediately sign an 18-month contract starting in January 2026.
Jules Armand Kooh Bioumla had signed a three-year contract with Club Africain of Morocco in July 2024 but parted ways with the club after just one year. In July this year, he reportedly received $15,000 to terminate his contract, after featuring in 13 matches and scoring two goals for the club.
In October, Cameroonian media reported that the 26-year-old striker had signed for his hometown club, Dynamo de Douala.
Kooh enjoyed an outstanding 2023/24 season in the Cameroonian league, finishing as the top scorer with 22 goals while playing for Astres de Douala. His impressive form earned him a call-up to the Cameroon national team ahead of matches against Namibia and Zimbabwe in September 2024.
