Rayon Sports Issues Ultimatum to Fall Ngagne Over Prolonged Absence

Rayon Sports FC has officially issued a warning letter to its striker, Fall Ngagne, after the club deemed him to have abandoned his duties. The club’s management has set a clear deadline for the Senegalese forward to report back to work, failure of which could result in decisive disciplinary action.

Ngagne has not featured for Rayon Sports since February 2025, when he suffered an injury during a Rwanda Premier League match against Amagaju FC. Before the setback, the prolific striker was enjoying an impressive season, having scored 13 league goals to become the competition’s top scorer at the time.

The Senegal international remained under the club’s medical supervision for several months and eventually resumed light training in September 2025. Upon full recovery, Ngagne requested permission to travel to Senegal, citing the need to care for his ailing mother. Rayon Sports granted the request, but his delayed return has raised serious concerns within the club.

According to Rayon Sports spokesperson Gakwaya Olivier, the club believes the player’s absence goes beyond the initial reason he provided.

“Fall Ngagne informed us that he was travelling to attend to his mother, but we later realized that the issue was more complicated than that,” Gakwaya said. “We have handled this matter while considering his interests, but we have now given him a final deadline to be back in Rwanda.”

He added that the club expects Ngagne to resume duty by Monday, January 5.

“If he fails to report by then, the management will convene and take further decisions. At that point, it will be clear that he no longer wishes to continue with his job,” Gakwaya emphasized.

Rayon Sports are currently dealing with squad depth challenges, with several players sidelined by injuries and others struggling for form. In response, the club has reinforced its squad by signing goalkeeper Kwizera Olivier, midfielder Faustin Likau Kitoko ‘Pizarro’, and defender Yannick Bangala Litombo.

As things stand, Rayon Sports sit eighth in the Rwanda Premier League standings with 21 points. The Blues are preparing to face AS Muhanga on Matchday 14, scheduled for Sunday, January 4, 2026.

Following the league fixture, Rayon Sports will shift focus to preparations for the FERWAFA Super Cup, where they are set to clash with rivals APR FC at Amahoro Stadium on January 10, 2026.

This developing situation around Fall Ngagne remains one to watch, as the club balances player welfare, contractual obligations, and on-field performance during a crucial phase of the season.
