Arsenal FC has officially confirmed a new long-term partnership with Deel, a global platform that provides payroll and workforce management services. The company will replace Visit Rwanda, which has been featured on the club’s left sleeve since 2018.
The announcement was made on Friday, December 12, 2025, marking the end of an eight-year collaboration between Arsenal and the Rwandan tourism brand. Starting from the 2026/27 season, Deel will take over the sleeve position during all Arsenal home and away matches.
A Deal Influenced by Darren Dein
According to sources inside the club, the agreement was significantly influenced by Darren Dein, son of former Arsenal co-owner and vice-chairman David Dein. Darren has been involved in multiple commercial negotiations with the club in the past and was previously part of discussions that proposed Deel as a potential stadium naming partner. At that time, Emirates Airlines beat them to the front-of-shirt sponsorship and stadium rights.
Club Leadership Welcomes the Partnership
The deal was signed by Juliet Slot, Arsenal’s Chief Commercial Officer, and later approved by the club’s majority owner Stan Kroenke. Slot expressed confidence in the new partner, emphasizing that Deel’s innovative approach matches Arsenal’s ambitions on and off the pitch.
“We’re excited to welcome Deel to the Arsenal family. Their global reach and commitment to innovation make them a perfect partner. Their investment will support our long-term growth and help us achieve our goals,” she said.
The End of the Visit Rwanda Era
Last month, Arsenal revealed that its partnership with Visit Rwanda was approaching its conclusion. The deal had been valued at $13.4 million per year since 2018. Over the years, the collaboration boosted Rwanda’s visibility through Premier League exposure, club events, and tourism campaigns.
Rwanda’s tourism revenues reached $647 million in 2024, and the country aims to hit $1 billion by 2029. Officials have indicated that the end of the Arsenal partnership will allow Rwanda to redirect its marketing investments into other key markets—particularly the United States.
Rwanda Shifts Focus to the American Market
In recent years, Rwanda has signed major promotional agreements with:
- LA Clippers (NBA)
- LA Rams (NFL)
President Paul Kagame stated that the country is now exploring more opportunities in the U.S. sports market, emphasizing that shifting from Arsenal was a strategic financial move.
“If this partnership no longer served our goals, it was only right to reallocate those resources. You’ve already seen our deals in the U.S. with NFL and NBA teams, and there are more on the way,” Kagame noted.
A New Chapter for Arsenal and Rwanda
The transition marks the end of one of Arsenal’s most recognizable sponsorships while opening a new chapter with a rapidly growing tech company. For Rwanda, it represents a shift toward markets that attract high numbers of visitors and offer broader business opportunities.
As Deel prepares to take its place on the iconic red and white kit, fans and analysts alike are watching to see how both sides will benefit from this fresh partnership.
