Rwandan giants Rayon Sports have completed the signing of Congolese midfielder Kitoko Likau Faustin, popularly known as “Pizzaro”, on a two-and-a-half-year contract. The 23-year-old arrives from Flambeau du Centre of Burundi after an impressive spell in the Burundian Premier League.
According to sources close to the deal, the contract is valued at 21 million Rwandan francs, a significant investment that reflects Rayon Sports’ ambition to strengthen their midfield ahead of the upcoming 2026 season.
A Rising Star from Congo
Kitoko began attracting attention during his time at AC Dynamic in the Democratic Republic of Congo before moving to Flambeau du Centre in August 2024. He initially signed a two-year deal in Burundi with a clause stating that once his stay ended, he would automatically return to AC Dynamic.
His performances in the holding midfield role—where he protects the defense, recovers possession, and sets the tempo—quickly made him one of the most reliable midfielders in the region. His physical presence combined with composure on the ball earned him the nickname “Pizzaro” among fans.
How Rayon Sports Secured the Deal
Rayon Sports reportedly agreed to pay $15,000 (approximately 21 million Rwf) for the player. However, Kitoko himself held the responsibility of negotiating the distribution of the transfer fee between Flambeau du Centre and AC Dynamic, since both clubs had ownership interests in his registration.
This arrangement delayed the final announcement slightly, but the midfielder eventually reached an agreement with both clubs, clearing the way for his move to Rwanda.
Temporary Return to Burundi Before Joining Gikundiro
On Friday morning, Kitoko boarded a flight back to Bujumbura, where he is expected to prepare for Flambeau du Centre’s next league match against Bumamuru scheduled for this Sunday. Although he has already signed with Rayon Sports, he will honor his remaining commitments before officially joining his new team.
Reliable sources indicate that Kitoko received $10,000 as part of his personal signing package. He is expected to arrive in Kigali in early January 2026, when he will start preseason training with Rayon Sports.
What His Arrival Means for Rayon Sports
Kitoko’s addition is seen as a major boost for the Blues of Nyanza. The club has been working to reinforce its midfield department, and bringing in a young, energetic, and defensively solid midfielder aligns with their long-term strategy.
With his ability to break up play, build from the back, and contribute to team balance, Kitoko is expected to compete immediately for a starting role.
His arrival also sends a strong signal to Rayon Sports supporters that the club is serious about competing for trophies in the coming seasons.
